WORCESTER, MASS. - The Providence College field hockey team defeated Holy Cross, 1-0, on Wednesday, September 11 in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Junior transfer Amie Hutton (Nantucket, Mass.) scored her first goal of the season early in the first half to give PC its 1-0 victory. Hutton's goal was assisted by junior defender Stefanie Suehnholz (Flemington, N.J.) just two minutes and 30 seconds (2:30) into the game.
Junior goalkeeper Meaghan Moran (Framingham, Mass.) recorded two saves in the victory and registered her first shut out of the 2002 season. Moran now has a total of 6.5 shut outs in her career. Jennifer Corsilli made two saves for Holy Cross.
Providence (4-2) will travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. to participate in the BIG EAST/Big 10 Challenge on Saturday, September 14 and Sunday, September 15. On Saturday, PC will match-up with Northwestern at 10:30 a.m., and on Sunday the team will face Iowa at 3:30 p.m. The Friars will host Albany in their home-opener on Friday, September 20 at 3:30 p.m. The game will be played at Hendricken Field on the campus of Providence College.
