PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- The Providence College softball team participated in a community project on October 18, 2003 at the Elizabeth Baldwin Elementary School in Pawtucket, R.I.

The softball team along with other volunteers, helped build a playground in honor of Aaron Hotchkiss, an eight-year-old student at Elizabeth Baldwin School, who lost his life in a house fire in 2001. The team was split up as half helped with the building of the playground, while the other half helped with childcare at the school.

In addition, the softball team also participated in the Breast Cancer Walk for the second consecutive year on October 19. The five-mile walk took place at Roger Williams Park in Providence. In all, the team raised over $450 to help support and bring awareness to breast cancer, which affects 200,000 people yearly.
