PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The 15th-ranked Providence College field hockey team defeated Rutgers, 2-1, in BIG EAST Conference action on Saturday, September 30 at the Friar Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex in Providence, R.I. Providence improves to 11-1 overall and 2-0 in the BIG EAST, while Rutgers drops to 4-9 (0-3 BIG EAST). Providence's two BIG EAST victories are the most for PC in regular-season league play since the 2000 season when the Friars finished the year with a 2-3 league mark.
Senior Jessica Weinstein (Bridgeton, N.J.) got the Friars on the board just 1:09 into the game as she tipped in an initial shot which was taken by senior Lauren Sickel (Plaistow, N.H.). Sickel was credited with the assist. Rutgers tied the game, 1-1, as Amy Lewis fed Sarah Dunn with a hard pass to the right post that Dunn managed to redirect into the cage.

It marked McGow's team-leading seventh goal of the season and gives her a team-high 20 points on the year. McGow is inching closer to becoming just the eighth player all-time at Providence to score 100-points in a career. She currently has 96 career points on 31 goals and 34 assists.
