PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's lacrosse program released its 2008 schedule on Monday, November 26. The Friars, who have participated in the NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship in three of the last four seasons, will prepare itself for another run at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) title with a tough non-conference slate.

The Friars' schedule features two of the top teams in the nation in Maryland and North Carolina. Providence will travel to College Park to face the Terrapins on March 3 at 3:00 p.m. Maryland entered the 2007 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship as the No. 7 seed and took an early exit with a first-round loss to UMBC (13-9). The Terrapins finished the season with a 10-6 overall record. North Carolina also finished the 2007 season with a 10-6 overall record. The Tar Heels advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, where they fell to Duke (19-11). The Friars and Tar Heels will face off against one another on March 11 at 2:00 p.m. in Providence, R.I.

The Friars open the season against Fairfield at the Friar Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex in Providence, R.I. on February 23 at 1:00 p.m. The team then heads to Colorado Springs, Colo. to face Air Force (2:00 p.m. ET). After visiting the Terrapins in College Park, the Friars remain on the road to take on Quinnipiac in a non-conference match-up on March 8 at 1:00 p.m.

After PC's home game with North Carolina on March 11, the Friars finish a three-game homestand with MAAC foes Manhattan (March 15) and VMI (March 22). Providence will host Manhattan at 2:00 p.m. and the Keydets of VMI at Noon.

On March 29, the Friars head back out on to the road to face Siena at 1:00 p.m. in Loudonville, N.Y. Siena finished the 2007 season as the MAAC Regular-Season Champions and claimed the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. The Saints' losses to Providence marked the only blemishes during conference play on their schedule.
