PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College field hockey team had its five-game win streak snapped on Wednesday, September 19 as Northeastern University held on to a 1-0 victory in Providence, R.I. The Friars drop to 5-3 on the year, while Northeastern improves to 3-4.
Northeastern's Emma Boggio scored the game's lone goal 20:43 into the first half as she deflected a hit into the circle from Stephanie Casper. Casper was credited with the assist.
Sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Chamberlain (Branford, Conn.) collected six saves for PC in the loss. Liz Centofanti made three saves for Northeastern.
Northeastern outshot the Friars, 8-6, including a 7-3 edge in shots on goal. The Huskies also held the advantage in penalty corners, 5-4.
Providence (5-3) returns to action on Sunday, September 23 against non-conference foe Maine. The game is scheduled to begin at Noon in Orono, Maine.
