Softball Releases 2010 Schedule

2010 Providence Softball Schedule

Providence College softball head coach Kerri Jacklets released the 2010 softball schedule on Wednesday, November 18. The Friars will play 54 regular-season games before the BIG EAST Championship on May 13-15.

Providence will participate in three tournaments in Florida and one in South Carolina before beginning its 22-game BIG EAST Conference schedule. The Friars open the regular season on February 12 against the University of Massachusetts at the Florida International Tournament in Miami, Fla. Providence also will play in the Florida Atlantic/Strike Out Cancer Tournament in Boca Raton, Fla. (2/26 - 2/28) and the UCF Spring Fling Tournament in Orlando, Fla. (3/5 - 3/7). The Friars' regular-season tournament schedule concludes with the Winthrop Adidas Classic in Rock Hill, S.C. (3/12 - 3/14).

The BIG EAST Conference schedule begins on March 27 with a doubleheader at Pittsburgh. The Friars will not play their first home game until March 30 against Fairfield and then will host perennial BIG EAST power, Louisville for a double header on April 1 at Raymond Field. Providence and Louisville will cap off their three-game series on April 3 with one game in Providence.

In addition, the Friars also will host USF (4/17 - 4/18), Connecticut (4/21) before finishing off the regular season with a three-game series against Villanova (5/8 - 5/9).
