PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College men's lacrosse Head Coach Chris Burdick announced the team's 2009 fall schedule on Monday, September 21. The schedule includes the program's annual Gerry Alaimo Friar Lacrosse Alumni Game on Saturday, October 3 at 4:00 p.m. The program will also compete in a preseason tournament hosted by Le Moyne College on Sunday, October 25.

The October 3 alumni game will be held at the Friar Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex and feature Friar lacrosse alumni versus the 2010 Providence College lacrosse team. All PC lacrosse alums are invited back to campus to play in the event.

The game is named after Gerry Alaimo, who was an employee in the Providence College Athletic Department from 1979-01. Alaimo served as an assistant athletic director and senior associate athletic director, overseeing the construction of PC's Peterson Recreation Center. He also served as the sport administrator for men's lacrosse in addition to men's basketball, men's and women's soccer and baseball.

Another highlight of the fall schedule is the October 25 tournament hosted by Le Moyne College in Syracuse, N.Y. The three-team tournament will feature Providence, Le Moyne and Lehigh University. The Friars will play Lehigh at 1:00 p.m. and Le Moyne at 3:00 p.m.

Le Moyne is one of the most successful programs in Division II lacrosse history, having won three NCAA Championships. The Dolphins have appeared in the national championship game in each of the past four seasons and captured titles in 2004, 2006 and 2007.

All alumni that intend to participate in the Gerry Alaimo Friar Lacrosse Alumni Game should contact Assistant Coach Keith Loftis in advance or with any questions at kloftis@providence.edu.
