PROVIDENCE, R.I. - PROVIDENCE COLLEGE (4-13, 0-5 BIG EAST): The Providence College field hockey team returns to action on Saturday, October 30, when it travels to Washington, D.C. to face Georgetown at 1:30 p.m. The game will be held at the William I. Jacobs Recreational Complex on the campus of American University. In the team's last match, it fell to No. 10 Louisville, 2-1, on October 23, in Providence, R.I. This is the final regular-season game of the 2010 schedule and will mark the final collegiate game for six senior members of the team; Ashlyn Hudson (Stoughton, Mass.), Joscelyn Mahon (Shavertown, Pa.) Kelly Grogan (Allenwood, N.J.), Christine Sideris (Watertown, Mass.), Julie Ruggieri (Barrington, R.I.) and Jaime Lipski (Dallas, Pa.).
Hudson and Ruggieri lead the team in scoring this season, each with eight points on three goals and two assists. Sophomore goalkeeper Kathi Weidman (Millersville, Pa.) and junior Shannon DiStefano have shared time in cage this season. Weidman has seen 645 minutes in goal and holds a 2.82 goals against average and a .667 save percentage. DiStefano has seen 575 minutes of actions and owns a 1.34 goals against average, a .784 save percentage and has posted two shutouts.
Last season, the Friars defeated the Hoyas, 8-0, in Providence, R.I. Providence is 4-0 against Georgetown since the Hoyas rejoined the BIG EAST Conference in 2006.
GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY (6-12, 1-4 BIG EAST): Georgetown enters the match coming off a 6-3 loss against Lafayette on October 24. Catherine Shugrue leads the Hoyas in scoring this season with 30 points on 13 goals and four assists. Charlotte Tierney has tallied nine goals and two assists for 20 points while Annie Wilson has registered eight goals and five assists for 18 points. Briana Pereira has seen 1,310 minutes of action in cage this season. She owns a 3.47 goals against average and a .637 save percentage.
