South Bend, Ind. - The Providence College softball team was defeated by Notre Dame, 9-0, in a BIG EAST Conference game on Sunday, April 3 in South Bend, Ind. With the win, the Fighting Irish improved to 21-7 overall and 3-0 in the BIG EAST. The Friars now have a 13-20 mark and 1-5 in league play.

Notre Dame managed to score nine runs on 12 hits. Alexia Clay led the way with three RBIs while Alexa Maldonado and Dani Miller each notched two of their own. In the pitcher's circle for the Fighting Irish was Laura Winter who earned the victory to improve to 11-2 on the season. Winter pitched four scorless innings and gave up two hits.

For the Friars, Junior Michelle Huber (Dana Point, Calif.), freshmen Mackenzie Morgan (Sulphur Springs, Texax) and Morgan Culver (Seaford, Del.) eached notched a hit in the game. Junior Alicia Grosso (Baldwin, N.Y.) and sophomore Corinne Clauss (Davie, Fla.) each pitched two innings each.

Providence is back in action on Tuesday, April 5, when they travel to Cambridge, Mass., to take on Harvard at 4:00 p.m.
