PROVIDENCE, R.I. -

The Providence College field hockey program is highlighting each of its current student-athletes in a segment entitled "Meet The Friars". Each student athlete answers a series of questions, allowing followers of the program to gain a closer perspective of the team and the student-athletes whom comprise the roster.

In this segment, we take a quick look at Deirdre Quinn (Walpole, Mass.), who played 14 games for the Friars in 2010 with seven appearances in the starting line-up. A defender, she scored her first collegiate goal on October 30 in a 4-1 victory over BIG EAST foe Georgetown.

Let's meet Deirdre Quinn!

1. Why did you decide to come to PC?

I first visited Providence College when I was a sophomore in high school. My sister was looking at the school and my parents wanted both of us to get a taste of what a Catholic school would provide. While my sister ended up somewhere else, my first visit to the school caught my eye. My second visit to Providence determined my fate. I knew Keri Murphy '09 already, yet little did I know it was just a hint of what was to come. I went to a team hang out in Cunningham and was suddenly laughing so hard I was crying. The unity of the team took place both on and off the field and that was a key piece I knew I had not yet found at any other school.

2. If you could date any actor, who would it be and why?

I would date George Clooney because no one can pull off the salt and pepper better.

3. If you were a dessert, what would you be and why?

If I were a dessert, I would be a brownie sunday because it has a little bit of everything; a few different layers of sauce, some Reeses for a little flavor, and some nuts to top it all off.

4. What is your favorite sport to watch on TV and why?

My favorite sport to watch on television is football, because when I was younger Sunday night football was a ritual of food, family and fun!
