Field Hockey Resumes BIG EAST Conference Action At Georgetown

Oct. 10, 2014 PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College field hockey team resumes BIG EAST Conference play against Georgetown on Saturday, Oct. 11 at Noon. The game will be played at the Multi-Sport Field on Georgetown's campus in Washington, D.C.

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE FIELD HOCKEY:

• The Providence College field hockey team enters Saturday's game vs. Georgetown with an 8-5 overall record and a 0-1 mark in the BIG EAST Conference.

• Five players have cracked double-digits in points, led by a trio of Friars who have recorded 20+ points. Freshman Megan Hamilton (Warrington, Pa.) leads the way with 22 points on 10 goals and two assists. Senior Daniella Bernasconi (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) also has 22 points this season on nine goals and four assists. Senior Steph Guglielmo (Castle Rock, Colo.) checks in with 21 points on eight goals and five assists. Guglielmo has scored at least one point in each of the last four games.

• Seven players on the roster have scored three-or-more goals through 13 games.

• Junior Emma Mackie (Delta, British Columbia) has recorded single-season career highs in points (12), goals (three) and assists (six). Her six assists this season leads the team.

• Senior goalkeeper Deidra Clymer (South Windsor, Conn.) has played 918 minutes for the Friars in the cage. She owns a 1.91 goals against average and a 0.648 save percentage.

• Providence fell to Boston University, 2-1, in its most recent game on Oct. 8. The Friars outshot the Terriers, 10-4, including an 8-2 edge in the second half. Providence also held a 5-2 advantage in penalty corners. All five of the Friars' corners were earned in the second half.

SCOUTING GEORGETOWN:

• Georgetown enters Saturday's game with a 4-6 overall record and a 0-1 mark in BIG EAST Conference action. The Hoyas were defeated by BIG EAST foe and defending national champion Connecticut, 6-0, in their most recent game on Oct. 4.

• Aliyah Graves-Brown leads the team in scoring with nine points on three goals and three assists. Three other Hoyas are tied for the team lead with three goals, including Sarah Butterfield, Megan Parsons and Emily Weinberg.

• Rachel Skonecki has played 641 minutes in goal this season for Georgetown. She owns a 3.65 goals against average and a 0.644 save percentage. Skonecki has recorded two shut-out victories this season against Longwood (1-0, OT) and Siena (1-0).
