The Terriers took a 1-0 lead into halftime has Kali Shumock redirected a ball at the right post during a penalty corner. The goal came in the 15th minute of play, and it marked the only penalty corner for either team in the half.
Boston University found the back of the cage to open the second half in the 41st minute, and provided the Terriers with a 2-0 lead. Rachel Coll was credited with the goal as she redirected a feed at the left post from Amanda Cassera.
The Friars got within a goal (2-1) in the 64th minute on a penalty corner. Junior Emma Mackie (Delta, British Columbia) earned the goal as she tipped in an initial shot taken by senior Steph Guglielmo (Castle Rock, Colo.). Guglielmo was awarded an assist on the play.
Providence out-shot the Terriers 10-4 in the game, including an 8-2 margin in the second half. The Friars also held a 5-2 edge in penalty corners, with all five of their opportunities coming in the second half.
Deidra Clymer made one save on four Terrier shot attempts, while Valentina Cerda Eimbcke recorded six saves for BU.
Providence resumes BIG EAST Conference action on Saturday, Oct. 11 vs. Georgetown. The game will be played on the Hoya's campus in Washington, D.C. and is scheduled to begin at Noon.
