Softball Falls To St. John's

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College softball team fell to St. John's, 11-1, in the final game of their BIG EAST series on Sunday, April 12.

The Friars got out to a good start in the top of the first inning. Sophomore Nicole Lundstrom (Rehoboth, Mass.) doubled down the right-field line to send junior Kiki Baldassari (Denville, N.J.) home to put Providence up 1-0.

The Red Storm responded by adding five runs in the bottom of the first inning to take over the lead, 5-1.

St. John's continued to add runs in the following innings, including two in the second, three in the third and one in the fourth inning. Providence was unable to reduce the lead, ending the game 11-1 in favor of the Red Storm.


Sophomore Taylor Huntly (Las Vegas, Nev.) and junior Kiara Amos (Malden, Mass.) shared pitching duties for the Friars. Huntly pitched for 1.0 innings, while Amos pitched for 3.0 innings, registering one strikeout. Francesca Carrullo earned the win for St. John's after pitching for 5.0 innings.

The Friars will be back in action at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15 for a game at Brown.
