Cancelled Event: Softball versus Tarleton State

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Providence College softball team fell to Villanova, 2-1, in the final game of their BIG EAST series on Sunday, April 19.
The Friars got out to a good start in the top of the first inning. Sophomore Nicole Lundstrom (Rehoboth, Mass.) scored an unearned run to put the Friars up 1-0.
The Wildcats weren't able to respond until the fifth inning. Natalia Segovia doubled to left field to send Shea Palmer home for the equalizer. At the end of the fifth inning, the game was tied 1-1.
The score remained 1-1 at the end of the seventh inning, sending the game into extra innings.
In the bottom of the eighth, Villanova's Tianah Hathaway scored after Lauren Herschberg grounded out to give the Wildcats a 2-1 win.
Sophomore Taylor Huntly (Las Vegas, Nev.) pitched 7.2 innings for the Friars. Huntly allowed just two earned runs and registered three strikeouts. Pitching for Villanova, Kate Poppe registered the win, recording seven strikeouts.
The Friars will be back in action at 3:00 p.m. on April 22 for a game at Fairfeild.
