Cancelled Event: Softball versus Tarleton State

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College softball team will host Bryant in a 3:00 p.m. game tomorrow (April 27). The game will also serve as the teams PINK OUT game. Following Tuesday's game, the Friars travel to Boston College for a 4:00 p.m. match-up.
Providence is led by senior Kristie Dederick (Camarillo, Calif.) who has a .337 batting average with a team-high 33 hits, 10 home runs and 31 RBI. Sophomore Nicole Lundstrom (Rehoboth, Mass.) is also hitting in the .300's with a .326 batting average with 30 hits, nine home runs and 19 RBI.
Sophomore Taylor Huntly (Las Vegas, Nev.) leads the pitching staff with a 3.90 ERA and a 10-9 record in 124.0 innings pitched. She has posted 14 complete games, two shut outs, two saves and 53 strikeouts.
Last week the Friars defeated URI, 9-7, on Thursday, April 23 behind two home run showings from Dederick and senior Lauren Paiva (Middletown, R.I.). Providence also went 2-1 against Georgetown on Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26. Freshman Brittney Veler (Santa Rosa, Calif.) led the squad in the BIG EAST series with a .600 batting average, three home runs and five RBI. Bryant is led by Madeline Velasquez who has a team-high 43 hits, while Elle Madsen has the team RBI lead with 36. Taylor Burger has a team-best .347 batting average. Madsen also leads the pitching staff with a 3.05 ERA in 167.2 innings pitched. She has 21 complete games, one save and 93 strikeouts.
Boston College is led by Annie Murphy who has a .313 batting average and 40 hits. Tatiana Cortez leads the team in RBI with 27. Allyson Frei leads the Eagles' pitching staff with 153.1 innings pitched with 14 wins and a 3.20 ERA. Jessica Dreswick has posted a 2.92 ERA in 48.0 innings pitched. Prior to Boston College's game with PC, the Eagles will play a doubleheader at UMass on Tuesday, April 28.
The Friars close out the regular season hosting Creighton in a three-game BIG EAST series, with a doubleheader on Saturday, starting at noon and 2:00 p.m. and a single game on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. Sunday's game will also honor the five Friar graduating seniors.
