PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College softball team defeated Bryant, 7-0, on Wednesday, April 13 in Smithfield, R.I. With the win, the Friars improved to 14-20 on the season.

In the top of the first, junior Nicole Lundstrom (Rehoboth, Mass.) singled through the right to knock in a run for a 1-0 lead.

In the top of the sixth, sophomore Julianne Rurka (Warrenville, Ill.) hit a double to send home graduate student Kelsi Luttrell (Mission Viejo, Calif.). Freshman Vanessa Portillo (Chatsworth, Calif.) and senior Danielle Deraney (West Roxbury, Mass.) were both hit by a pitch to bring in a run each. Junior Nadia Kemp (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) walked to bring in another run. Freshman Emma Lee hit a two-run single to send Kemp and Deraney home for the final score, 7-0.

For the game, freshman Megan McCune (Orange, Calif.) pitched all seven innings, struck out two batters, and allowed just two hits.

The Friars will return to action with a game versus St. John's on Saturday, April 16 at Glay Field in Providence, R.I.
