CHICAGO, Ill. - The Providence College softball team fell to DePaul, 7-2, in the series finale on Saturday at Cacciatore Stadium. The Friars drop to 12-22 overall and 3-9 in BIG EAST play, while DePaul improves to 22-16 and 7-4 in BIG EAST play.
Miranda Trinidad (2-4) got the start on the mound for the Friars, allowing six runs (four earned) over 1.1 innings pitched before giving way to Megan McCune, who went the final 4.2 innings while allowing just one earned run on three hits and three strikeouts.
Trailing 7-0 and without a hit entering the sixth inning, the Friars finally got on the board on Vanessa Portillo's RBI single to bring in Emma Lee. Providence added another run in the seventh on Nicole Lundstrom's RBI groundout to account for the final scoring.
The Blue Demons were led by Morgan Greenwood's three-run homer in the bottom of the first and Missy Zoch's complete game on the hill with six strikeouts.
The Friars are back in action on Tuesday (April 18) for a single game at Harvard beginning at 4 p.m. in Cambridge, Mass.
