Softball Set To Host Seton Hall

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College Softball is set to play a weekend series against the Seton Hall Pirates on April 22-23. The Friars will play at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 22. Providence will then finish the series with a game on Sunday, April 23 at 12:00 p.m. The series will be a part of the college's yearlong centennial celebration as the team will wear throw-back uniforms on the first day of the weekend series.

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE: The Friars are currently 15-22 with a 3-9 record in the BIG EAST this season. Leading up to the weekend series against Seton Hall, Providence has played a game against Harvard University and a doubleheader against Bryant University. The Friars won all three games.

Nicole Lundstrom (Rehoboth, Mass.) has been the leader of the Providence offense this season. Lundstrom has a batting average of .379 with 36 runs scored, 39 hits, 8 homeruns and 30 RBI. In the second game against Bryant, Lundstrom hit a walkoff single in the bottom of the 8^th inning to win the game.

Also playing key roles for Providence have been Emma Lee (Orange, Calif.), Brittany Veler (Santa Rosa, Calif.) and Julianne Rurka (Warrenville, Ill.). Lee has a batting average of .353 while also leading the team in hits (49) and doubles (10). Veler currently has a batting average of .316 with 36 hits, 8 doubles, 3 triples, 1 homerun and 23 RBI. Rurka is batting .313 with 30 hits, 7 doubles and 23 RBI.

Christina Ramirez (Niceville, Fla.) has been the ace of the pitching staff this season. Ramirez has started 23 games this season and has a record of 10-12 and an ERA of 4.52. Ramirez has pitched 18 complete games this season and has totaled 84 strike outs while holding opponents to a .283 batting average in 139.1 innings of work.

SCOUTING SETON HALL UNIVERSITY: The Seton Hall Pirates currently have a record of 20-18-1 with a record of 5-7 in the BIG EAST.

The Pirates offense is being led by Alexis Walkden, who has a batting average of .361 with 36 runs, 43 hits, 14 doubles, 11 home runs and 30 RBI. Lauren Fischer has also been an important part of the offense as she has a batting average of .347 with 35 hits, 10 home runs and 26 RBI.

Reganne Camp and Lauren Fischer have rotated as starting pitchers for the Pirates as both have started 11 games. Camp has a team leading ERA of 2.88 and a 6-4 record with 62 strike outs on the year. Fischer has a record of 4-6 with an ERA of 3.57.
