PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) announced its 2017 USILA/Nike All-America Teams today [May 24]. Two Providence College men's lacrosse players were honored as defender Jarrod Neumann (Springfield, Mass.) was named to the Second Team and goalkeeper Tate Boyce (Matthews, N.C.) earned a spot on the Third Team.

Including Neumann and Boyce, just four student-athletes in the history of the Providence College lacrosse program have earned USILA All-America accolades. The duo joins former Friars Michael Farley (2006, Honorable Mention) and Ben Johnston (2008, Honorable Mention).

Neumann, who completed his college lacrosse career this spring and graduated from Providence on May 21, finished the 2017 campaign with three points on two goals and one assist. He collected 27 ground balls and caused 18 turnovers. Neumann was named to the Inside Lacrosse Media All-America Third-Team and earned NEILA All-New England First-Team honors. He also was tabbed BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year in addition to earning All-BIG EAST First Team recognition and BIG EAST All-Tournament Team accolades. Neumann will suit up for the Division I/II North Team in the 76th Annual USILA/Nike North-South All-Star Game, scheduled for Friday, May 26 at Providence College.

Boyce, a rising junior, played 1,006:11 minutes in goal for the Friar during the 2017 campaign and posted a 8.05 goals against average and a 0.569 save percentage. Boyce earned numerous accolades at the conclusion of his sophomore campaign including Inside Lacrosse Media Honorable Mention All-America honors, BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year, All-BIG EAST First Team, BIG EAST All-Tournament and NEILA All-New England First-Team recognition. Boyce led the BIG EAST in save percentage (.569) and goals against average (8.05), and currently ranks sixth in the NCAA among all Division I goalkeepers in both categories.

Boyce and Neumann also anchored the Friars' defense that ranked 10th in the NCAA in scoring defense (8.35) and 13th in the nation in man-down defense (.742).

Together, Neumann and Boyce led the Friars to their second-consecutive BIG EAST Tournament appearance and helped the Friars to reach the Championship game for the first time in program history. The duo also played an instrumental role in helping Providence make its first-ever appearance in the national rankings, in both the USILA/ Nike Coaches' Poll and the Inside Lacrosse Maverik Media Poll.
