Last Weekend
Providence looks to get in the win column for the first time this season on Saturday at RPI. The Friars suffered a two-game sweep against Michigan last weekend at Schneider Arena.
Â
Last Game
- The No. 7/6 Providence College men's hockey team was dealt a 3-1 setback by No. 9/7 Michigan on Saturday night (Oct. 11) in non-conference men's ice hockey action at Schneider Arena.
- The Wolverines scored the only goal of the first while shorthanded. Malcom Spence collected the puck along the left wing boards at center ice and broke in alone on Svedebäck before lifting a backhander over the left pad of the goaltender.
- Michigan doubled its lead on a delayed penalty 6:35 into the second. Josh Eernisse grabbed a loose puck in the PC end along the left wing boards, cut towards the crease and beat Svedebäck high to the stick side.
- The Friars cut their deficit in half just 46 seconds later on the power play on
John Mustard's second goal in as many games.
Tanner Adams found Mustard at the top of the left circle for a wrister that beat Ivankovic over the glove.
Jonathan Fauchon earned his first NCAA point with an assist on the play.
- Eernisse's second breakaway goal of the evening midway through the third stretched the Michigan lead to 3-1 and capped the scoring.
- Providence won 38-of-62 face-offs (61.3 pct.) behind
Roger McQueen, who won 14-of-20 (60.0 pct.), and
Julius Sumpf (11-of-16; 68.8).
