Friars will host the Huskies on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 11:00 a.m. for their annual Project Providence game.
FRIARS HOST NORTHEASTERN IN ANNUAL PROJECT PROVIDENCE GAME... The Friars will host non-conference foe Northeastern in their annual Project Providence game on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 11:00 a.m. The match-up will welcome over 1,100 local elementary and middle school students to Alumni Hall. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
PROVIDENCE VS. NORTHEASTERN ALL-TIME... Providence has compiled an 18-4 all-time record against Northeastern. The Huskies have claimed wins in two of the last four games between the two teams. In the most recent meeting, Northeastern defeated Providence, 65-59, on Dec. 15, 2019 in Alumni Hall.
SCOUTING NORTHEASTERN... Northeastern enters Tuesday's game with a 1-3 record. The Huskies were picked to finish 12th in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). The Huskies top player is junior point guard Yirsy Queliz, who earned All-CAA Preseason Honorable Mention accolades. As a sophomore, Queliz averaged 11.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. Northeastern compiled a 3-25 record in 2024-25, including a 2-16 mark in the CAA.
FAMILIAR FACE... Northeastern Head Coach Priscilla Edwards-Lloyd served five seasons as an associate head coach of the Providence College women's basketball program from 2016-21. She was part of the Friars' 2018-19 run to the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) Round of 16. That season, Providence completed the year with a 19-16 overall record, marking the most victories for the Friars since 2009-10.
BACK-TO-BACK WINS... Providence has won two-straight games heading into Tuesday's match-up against Northeastern. Providence defeated Central Connecticut (65-40) on Nov. 10 and most recently claimed a 70-61 win over Boston College (Nov. 15). It marked the first win over Boston College since Nov. 17, 2019 (70-60) and snapped a five-game skid against the Eagles.
CAREER-HIGH 22 POINTS HELPS LIFT FRIARS OVER BOSTON COLLEGE... Sophomore Payton Dunbar recorded her second double-digit game of the season (and career) on Nov. 15 against Boston College with a career-high 22 points. Dunbar shot 8-14 from the field, including a 5-10 performance beyond the arc. Entering the game, Dunbar was 0-9 from three-point territory.
SABOU GUEYE RECORDS FIRST DOUBLE-DOUBLE AS A FRIAR... Grad transfer Sabou Gueye picked up her first double-double as a Friar on Nov. 15 as she recorded 16 points and 12 boards vs. Boston College. It marked the third double-double of her career, having recorded two at Florida A&M.
DOUBLE DIGITS... Sabou Gueye is the lone Friar to reach double digits in the scoring column in all three games this season. She leads the team in scoring, averaging 16.0 points per game. Three other players on the roster have reached double figures, including Teneisia Brown, Payton Dunbar and Audrey Shields. Brown and Dunbar have scored in double figures, twice, and Shields eclipsed double digits once.
GUEYE NAMED TO BIG EAST WEEKLY HONOR ROLL... Sabou Gueye was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. It marked the first conference honors of the season for Gueye, who joined Providence as a graduate transfer ahead of the 2025-26 season. Gueye, a guard, averaged 16.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 blocked shots and 1.0 steal per game as the Friars claimed two victories last week vs. Central Connecticut (65-40) and Boston College (70-61). In those games, she combined to shoot 48.3-percent from the field (14-29). Against the Blue Devils, she posted 16 points, eight rebounds, one assist, one blocked shot and one steal. Gueye closed the week with her first double-double as a Friar [third of her career] on 16 points, 12 boards, three assists and three blocked shots.
BIG DAY ON THE BOARDS VS. CCSU... The Friars recorded 55 rebounds against Central Connecticut on Nov. 10. It marks the most rebounds in a game for Providence since Nov. 9, 2013. On that day, the team hauled in a program-record 65 boards against UMass Lowell. Against CCSU, Teneisia Brown recorded a game-high 14 rebounds. A trio of Friars, including Sabou Gueye, Orlagh Gormley and Ashley Dinges, each recorded eight rebounds.
FIRST DOUBLE-DOUBLE AS A FRIAR... Graduate transfer Teneisia Brown recorded her first double-double as a Friar, and 32nd of her career, on Nov. 10 vs. Central Connecticut. She finished the game with 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Through three games, Brown is averaging 11.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. Her 9.0 rebounds leads the team.
TENEISIA BROWN ECLIPSES 1,200 CAREER POINTS... Grad transfer Teneisia Brown has eclipsed 1,200 points for her career. Brown arrived at Providence for her final season after stops at Merrimack (2020-22) and Fairleigh Dickinson (2023-25). She averaged double figures in the scoring column during each of her last three seasons of college basketball and currently ranks third on the team in scoring for the Friars through three games (11.0 ppg). Brown has a career scoring total of 1,219 points heading into Tuesday's game against Northeastern.
ORLAGH GORMLEY STARTS STRONG AFTER INJURY-SHORTENED ROOKIE SEASON... Sophomore Orlagh Gormley enters Tuesday's game against Northeastern averaging 6.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and team-highs in assists (4.0 apg) and steals (2.3 spg). She has looked strong in her return to the court after missing the final 22 games of her rookie season with an injury. Gormley has dished 5+ assists in each of the last two games and also picked up a career-high five steals in the win over Boston College (Nov. 15).
PAYTON DUNBAR MAKING IMMEDIATE IMPACT IN FIRST SEASON... Sophomore transfer Payton Dunbar is making an immediate impact during her first season with the Friars. She ranks second in scoring (13.3 ppg) and assists (2.7 apg), while also contributing 1.7 rebounds per game. She is tied for the team lead in minutes played per game with Sabou Gueye (29 mpg).
PROVIDENCE DROPS SEASON OPENER TO HOWARD... The Friars were defeated by Howard, 68-56, in their season opener on Nov. 4 at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. The Bison used a 9-2 run in the final 3:15 of the third quarter, including a three at the buzzer, to claim a 50-39 lead heading into the fourth. Howard extended its lead to as many as 18 with 2:20 left to put the game out of reach. Providence managed to get within 64-54 with an 8-0 run, but the deficit proved too large to overcome. Sabou Gueye led the Friars with 16 points and four steals. Payton Dunbar tallied 12 points, four assists and two rebounds. Howard out-scored Providence 26-12 in points off turnovers. The Friars committed 20 miscues in the game, compared to Howard's 12 turnovers.
NEW LOOK FRIARS TAKE THE COURT IN 2025-26... The Friars have reloaded their roster for the 2025-26 season after losing 10 players to graduation (seven seniors and three graduate students). Junior Sophi Hall and sophomores Orlagh Gormley and Audrey Shields are the only returning players on the roster that have seen game action in a Friar uniform. The remainder of this year's roster is made up of five transfer student-athletes, five true freshmen and one red-shirt freshman.
FRIARS DEFEAT FRANKLIN PIERCE IN EXHIBITION GAME... The Friars hosted NCAA Division II Franklin Pierce in an exhibition game on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. The Friars claimed a decisive 71-38 victory, clamping down defensively in the second half to allow just 10 points over the final 20 minutes of play. Sabou Gueye and Payton Dunbar each scored 12 points to pace the offense. Teneisia Brown recorded seven points, four rebounds and a team-best five assists. Ashley Dinges tallied nine points and a team-best six rebounds and two blocked shots. Providence forced Franklin Pierce into committing 30 turnovers and held a 29-19 scoring advantage in points off turnovers in the game. The Friars also dominated the glass with a 40-26 edge in rebounding.
HOME-SWEET-HOME... The Friars will play eight of their 11 non-conference games in the friendly confines of Alumni Hall / Mullaney Gymnasium in Providence, R.I., including a five-game home-stand to start the season. Providence is currently 2-1 at home in Alumni Hall.
BROADCAST AND TV ASSIGNMENTS... As part of the BIG EAST's television and broadcast deal, the Friars will be featured on a host of network platforms encompassing television and streaming during the 2025-26 season, including FS1, TNT, truTV, Peacock and ESPN+. Additionally, Providence's games at the Emerald Coast Classic will be available on FloCollege and its non-conference match-up at South Carolina will be broadcast on the SEC Network. Each of the Friars' home non-conference games will be broadcast live on ESPN+, in addition to 15 of the program's 20 BIG EAST Conference regular-season games. EMERALD COAST CLASSIC... Providence will participate in the Emerald Coast Classic in Niceville, Fla. prior to the Thanksgiving Holiday on November 24-25. The Friars will face Middle Tennessee State in the first game of the tournament on Nov. 24. Providence will conclude the tournament on Nov. 25 against Mississippi State or Alcorn State. Under the direction of third-year Head Coach Erin Batth, the Friars have participated in the West Palm Beach Classic (2022-23) and the Cancun Challenge (2024-25).
BIG EAST PRESEASON POLL... The Friars were picked to finish 10th in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll, released at the league's annual media day on Oct. 21 at Madison Square Garden. Last season, Providence completed the year with a 13-19 overall record and claimed a seventh-place finish in the regular-season standings with a 6-12 conference record.
ERIN BATTH ERA... Erin Batth enters her third season with the Friars in 2025-26. She was hired as the 11th women's basketball coach in program history at Providence College on March 20, 2023. Batth arrived in Friartown with 17 years of NCAA Division I coaching experience, with her most recent stops coming at NC State (2018-22) and Michigan (2022-23). She has been part of five conference championships, eight NCAA Elite Eight appearances and three trips to the NCAA Sweet 16. She also served as an assistant coach at Liberty (2017-18), Georgia State (2014-17), Tennessee Tech (2012-14) and Towson (2010-12). Batth earned her first career win as a head coach on Nov. 7 vs. Hampton (76-46). She helped the Friars earn a bid to the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) in her first year at Providence in 2023-24.
WHAT'S NEXT... The Friars will finish off a five-game home stand to begin the season on Friday, Nov. 21 against Yale. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
