Cancelled Event: Softball versus Tarleton State

Providence, R.I.- The Providence College softball team lost the second game of the make-up doubleheader with Boston College, 4-1, this afternoon at the Providence Softball Field.
Boston College scored all their runs early in the first inning. The Eagles first got on the board with Cara Blumfield beating out the tag at home off a fielder's choice. Jennifer Asbury then capitalized on a fly out RBI by Summer Jarratt. Lisa Fischer followed up with a RBI single down the right field line. Lauren Fischetti later scored on an error to round out the Eagles' offense.
PC's lone run came in the fourth inning with Kerri Jacklets (Sayville, N.Y.) scoring on an error by the shortstop.
The Eagles' Kim Ryan takes the win after pitching the first three innings, allowing two hits and striking out four batters. Lauren Fischetti closed out the final four innings, giving up two hits. The Friars' Melissa Peterson (Santa Ana, Calif.) fell to 11-10 on the mound, but fanned eight batters this afternoon.
After today's game, Boston College improved to 18-17 overall and 7-3 in the BIG EAST, while Providence fell to 18-21 overall and 3-7 in the BIG EAST.
Providence returns to action on Saturday, April 22, when they travel to Storrs, Conn., to take on the Huskies of the University of Connecticut. Game time for the doubleheader is slated for 12:00 p.m.
