HANOVER, N.H. - The Providence College field hockey team earned a 3-0 shut-out victory against Dartmouth on Sunday, September 14 in Hanover, N.H. Three different Friars found the back of the cage in the second half to help nail down Providence's second-straight shutout, and third of the season.
After a scoreless first half of play, the Friars finally got on the board for a 1-0 lead in the 39th minute as sophomore Ashlyn Hudson (Stoughton, Mass.) intercepted a crossing pass as Dartmouth attempted to clear the ball from their defensive end. After collecting the ball, she dribbled into the top of the circle and fired a shot passed Dartmouth's goalkeeper.
In the 47th minute, sophomore Jaime Lipski (Dallas, Pa.) tipped in a free hit taken by senior Jessica Lane (South Windsor, Conn.). Lane was credited with the assist as the Friars took a 2-0 advantage.
In the 67th minute, junior Adrienne Marois (Auburn, Mass.) capped off the scoring as she ripped a hard shot into the back of the cage off a feed from Lane during a penalty corner.
Junior goalkeeper Rachel Chamberlain (Branford, Conn.) earned the shut-out for Providence with 2 saves. Meagan Vakiener made five saves in goal for Dartmouth.
The Friars held a 17-3 advantage in shots and a 10-4 edge in penalty corners.
