NOTRE DAME, IND. - The Providence College men's lacrosse team (0-10, 0-3 BIG EAST) dropped an 11-3 contest to the University of Notre Dame (6-5, 1-3 BIG EAST) on Saturday, April 17 in Notre Dame, Ind. The Friars led 1-0 at the end of the first quarter, but Notre Dame capitalized on a second quarter in which the Irish outscored PC 5-0 to claim the victory.

Sophomore goaltender Christian Dzwilewski (Huntington, N.Y.) recorded 10 saves while allowing 11 goals in 60:00 minutes of action for Providence. It marked the fourth-straight contest in which Dzwilewski has posted double-digit save totals this season.

Senior defenseman Ryan Riedl (Winchester, Mass.) also played well for the Friars, causing three turnovers while picking up five ground balls to anchor the PC backline. Offensively, the Friars were led by sophomore midfielder Jake Nolan (Westport, Conn.), who posted two points on a goal and an assist.

Both teams opened the game well defensively, as neither squad scored in the opening quarter until the 0:52 mark. At that point, sophomore midfielder Pete Wujciak (Essex Fells, N.J.) picked up a ground ball and fired a shot past Notre Dame goaltender John Kemp to give the Friars the early 1-0 lead.

Notre Dame got on the board with a goal by Zach Brenneman at the 14:05 mark of the second quarter to tie the score at one. From there, the Fighting Irish scored four more times in the frame to take a 5-1 advantage into halftime.

The Irish scored three more times to take an 8-1 lead before the Friars could end the streak with 3:37 left in the third quarter. At that point, senior midfielder Colin Tigh (Garden City, N.Y.) posted a score off a good feed from sophomore midfielder Jake Nolan (Westport, Conn.) to cut the Notre Dame lead to 8-2.

After two more goals from the Irish (10-2), Nolan posted his second point of the game on a well-placed goal to make the score 10-3 in favor of Notre Dame with 5:45 to play in the contest. The Irish's Ryan Foley posted the final goal of the contest to give Notre Dame the 11-3 victory.

Kemp earned the win in goal for the Fighting Irish, allowing three goals while making five saves in 55:25 of action. Brenneman led Notre Dame offensively with four points on two goals and two assists.
