MT. PLEASANT, Mich. - The Providence College field hockey team dropped a heartbreaking game to Central Michigan, 3-2, in overtime on Saturday, September 11 in Mt. Pleasant, Mich. The Chippewas erased a 2-0 halftime deficit with three, unanswered goals, including the game-winner just 1:15 into overtime.

The Friars carried a 1-0 lead into halftime as freshman Kasey Bulman (Farmingdale, N.J.) scored her first collegiate goal with 16:54 left in the first half, unassisted. Bulman one-timed the ball into the the back of the cage after it deflected off the goalkeeper's pads.

Providence took a 2-0 lead at the 27:24 mark of the second half as senior Ashlyn Hudson (Stoughton, Mass.) recorded her second goal of the season. Hudson tallied the goal off a deflection during a scrum in front of the cage. Sophomore Nicole Fernandez (Tewksbury, Mass.) was credited with the assist.

The Chippewas countered with two goals to tie the game and force overtime. The first came with 13:40 remaining in the game as Julianna Makrinos deflected in a direct shot off a penalty corner. Erin Dye was credited with the assist. Paulina Lee tied the game, 2-2, with 4:14 left on another CMU penalty corner and forced overtime. Lee also scored the game winner as she connected off a crossing pass from Bailey McKeon.

For the game, Providence held a 13-12 advantage in shots. Each team recorded seven corners. Anastasia Netto earned the win in goal with eight saves, while Providence's Shannon DiStefano posted four saves.

The Friars return to action on Wednesday, September 15 against Northeastern. The game is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. in Boston, Mass.
