Final Stats

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College field hockey team fell to Brown, 2-0, despite outshooting the Bears, 32-7, and holding a 15-2 advantage in penalty corners. Brown's Shannon McSweeney recorded 19 saves, including 11 in the second half to earn the victory. The Friars fall to 9-6 on the season, while Brown improves to 8-3.

It looked as if the two teams would head into halftime deadlocked, 0-0, but Brown managed to get on the scoreboard with 50-seconds remaining in the opening half. Katherine Kallergis was credited with her first goal of the season off a feed from Meghan O'Donnell.

In the second half, the Friars applied the offensive pressure and fired 19 shot attempts at the net compared to just three attempts by the Bears. However, Brown managed to capitalize on its second goal of the game. Jaclyn Torres found the back of the cage after receiving a pass from Hannah Rogers in the 57th minute.

Providence resumes BIG EAST Conference play on Friday, Oct. 17 at 6th-ranked Connecticut. The game will be played in Storrs, Conn. and is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
