PROVIDENCE, R.I.– The Providence College softball team will travel to DePaul University for its first BIG EAST road competition this weekend (March 21-22) for a three-game series in Chicago, Ill. The teams will play a doubleheader on Friday, March 21 beginning at 2 p.m. ET.
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
Providence enters the weekend series at 7-16 overall and 3-3 in BIG EAST play after dropping two-of-three games against Butler last weekend and earning a non-conference victory over Boston College on Tuesday.
Junior
Elisa Smith (Glen Allen, Va.) continues to lead the Friars offensively this season. After a 2-for-3 performance at the plate in the win over Boston College, Smith continues to lead Providence in batting average (.431), hits (31) and runs (17).
Senior
Gabriella Sebastian (Ramsey, N.J.) recorded her second-career home run in the win over Boston College on Tuesday.
Sophomore
Cameron Dunn (Bothell, Wash.) paced the Friars against Boston College with a 3-for-3 performance at the plate with a home run and three RBI. She leads the Friars in home runs (5), doubles (5), RBI (22) and ranks third in batting average (.381) with a team-high .730 slugging percentage.
SCOUTING DEPAUL
The Blue Demons enter the weekend at 12-13 overall and 1-5 in BIG EAST play. DePaul dropped two of three league games to Seton Hall last weekend before earning a non-conference win over UIC on Tuesday by a score of 9-8.
Addison Talbot leads the Blue Demons with a .331 batting average, followed by Baylee Cosgrove (.312) and Zoe Levine (.308). Cosgrove leads the team with 24 hits while Levine leads with 15 RBI.
In the circle, Kelly Greene has started a team-high 13 games this season and is 6-7 with a 6.14 ERA and 28 strikeouts. Bella Nigey leads the staff in ERA with 1.88 and 44 strikeouts with a 6-2 overall record.
ON DECK
The Friars will return to action on Wednesday, March 26 as they host Rhode Island in a doubleheader on Glay Field. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
