QUEENS, N.Y.- The Providence College softball team was defeated, 3-1, by St. John's (26-10-1, 8-1 BIG EAST) on Sunday, March 30, on Red Storm Field in Queens, N.Y. Providence moved to 11-20 overall including a 6-6 mark in BIG EAST play. Senior Emma Douma (Midland Park, N.J.) plated the lone run for the Friars with an RBI single.
GAME NOTES
· Douma opened the game's scoring with an RBI single in the first (1-0). Elisa Smith (Glen Allen, Va.) crossed the plate.
· The Red Storm scored three unanswered runs in the second to finish the game with a 3-1 lead.
· Alyssa Twomey (Warwick, R.I.) pitched five innings in the circle for Providence. The sophomore recorded three strikeouts and conceded only four hits and three earned runs in facing 22 batters. Alannah Hopkins (Sylva, N.C.) pitched one inning of scoreless relief with one strikeout.

The Friars will return home to host the Boston University Terriers in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday, April 2. The game is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Glay Field in Providence, R.I. Fans unable to attend can stream it live on FloSports.
