PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's lacrosse team was defeated by Brown, 8-7, on Saturday, Feb. 21 in Providence, R.I. Providence moved to 2-2 on the season, while Brown improved to 2-0. Junior
Rhett Chambers (Larchmont, N.Y.) paced the Friars' offense with two goals and two assists.
Cam Sterritt (Brampton, Ont.) recorded a career-high 18 saves for the Friars.
1st Quarter:
•
Jay Wilkerson (Baltimore, Md.) opened the scoring to give the Friars a 1-0 advantage (9:56).
• Brown found a quick response to tie the game, 1-1, less than a minute later (8:58).
•
Matt Lazzaro (Franklin, Mass.) found the back of the net and gave the Friars a 2-1 lead to close the first quarter (2:22).
2nd Quarter:
• Brown found a rhythm on offense to start the second quarter as it scored back-to-back goals for a 3-2 lead (10:03).
• Chambers responded for the Friars and tied the game, 3-3.
• The Bears won the next two faceoffs and scored back-to-back goals. As a result, Brown took a 5-3 lead (4:50).
• The Friars held the advantage in caused turnovers, 3-1.
• The Bears tallied 16 ground balls in the first half, while the Friars recorded five.
• Brown held the advantage at the face-off 'X' in the first half, winning 8-10 opportunities.
3rd Quarter:
• The Friars struck first as
Parker Kennedy (Port Coquitlam, B.C.) found the back of the net and cut Brown's lead to 5-4 (9:16).
• With seven seconds remaining in the quarter, Brown scored and took a 6-4 lead into the final frame.
4th Quarter
• Late in the final quarter, Chambers netted his second goal of the game and cut Brown's lead to one.
• Brown pushed its lead to two with 1:00 minute remaining in the game (7-5).
• With 51 seconds remaining, Lazzaro caused a turnover on a Brown clear attempt and advanced the ball to Chambers in the offensive zone. Chambers found
Ian Olenik (Windham, N.H.) in front of the net, and Olenik scored his first goal of the season. The goal cut Brown's lead to 7-6.
• The Friars forced another Brown turnover to get one last offensive possession in regulation. Wilkerson took advantage and scored to tie the game, 7-7, with just eight seconds remaining.
Overtime
• Both teams traded possessions that ended in turnovers to open the extra period.
• On the third possession of overtime, Brown's Ennis Udo was credited with the game-winning goal with 1:25 remaining on the clock.
Notes:
• Chambers registered a game-high four points on two goals and two assists for the Friars. The junior has tallied 21 points on 11 goals and 10 assists this season and leads the team in all three categories.
• Wilkerson scored two goals for Providence for his second multi-goal game of the season.
• Sterritt tallied a career-high 18 saves on a .692 save percentage for the Friars.
• Long-stick midfielder Olenik scored his first goal of the season.

Jack Bourget (Edina, Minn.) tallied a game-high three caused turnovers and added four ground balls.
• The game marked the Friars' first overtime game since the 2024 season.
• Brown held the advantage in special teams, winning 13-18 face-off opportunities.
• Both teams attempted 38 shots in the game.
• Providence recorded eight caused turnovers to Brown's six.
