The Friars return to action in their home opener against Georgetown on March 6.
COLLEGE PARK, Md.- The Providence College softball team fell to Syracuse on day three of the Terrapin Invitational, 8-5. Providence finished the weekend with a 2-3 record and fell to 4-10 overall in 2026.

NOTESÂ
• The Friars got on the board after Syracuse jumped out to a 2-0 lead when Gabrella Lee (Belmont, Calif.) laid down a bunt single to send Nikki Gallardo (Lexington, S.C.) home from third.Â
• Later in the inning, with two outs and runners on the corners, Brianna De La Fuente (Metuchen, N.J.) singled up the middle to drive in both Lee and Emily Jonte (Allen, Texas). Providence took a 3-2 lead.Â
• Hailey Frantz (Danville, Calif.) reached on a fielder's choice to bring home Sofia Peterson (Bordentown, N.J.) from third; Brooke Aldrich (Taunton, Mass.) advanced to third on the play as the Friars took the lead, 4-3.Â
• Later in the sixth inning, Gallardo hit a sacrifice fly to left field, allowing Aldrich to score from third and extend Providence's lead to 5-3.Â
• Syracuse scored five runs in the seventh inning to reclaim the lead, 8-5.Â
• Providence couldn't rally in the bottom of the seventh as the Orange held on for the 8-5 win.
• Alannah Hopkins (Sylva, N.C. ) started and pitched five innings for the Friars. Grace Brooks (Meridian, Idaho) came in for relief to finish the game. Â
• Providence finished the weekend with a record of 2-3.Â
