PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College softball team (19-14, 10-2 BIG EAST) will host Boston University (33-11, 11-1 Patriot League) and Brown (11-19, 4-8 Ivy League) for a midweek doubleheader on Wednesday, April 15. They will open the day with a 3:00 p.m. matchup against Boston University before returning to the field at 5:30 p.m. to face Brown. Both games will be streamed on FriarsLive.
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
Providence enters this midweek doubleheader having won 15 of its last 18 games. The Friars recently opened BIG EAST play with a program-best 7-1 start. Additionally, their eight-game winning streak- which tied a school record- came to an end in the series finale against Seton Hall earlier this season.
Last week against Boston University,
Cameron Dunn (Bothell, Wash.) recorded her 100th career hit while also tying the single season program record for home runs (12). In addition to Dunn, Providence has two players closing in on 100 career hits.
Sofia Peterson (Bordentown, N.J.) and
Elisa Smith (Glen Allen, Va.) are both within single digits of the milestone.
Dunn has had an impressive season for Providence so far. The infielder has been featured on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll four times and leads the team with 44 RBI, 12 home runs, and a .894 slugging percentage while batting .415. Her 12 home runs and .894 slugging percentage rank second in the conference.
Emily Jonte (Allen, Texas) has provided a strong start for the Friars, posting a .397 batting average. The senior has recorded 29 hits, 10 RBI, and a .548 slugging percentage. Jonte was named BIG EAST Player of the Week earlier this season following her performance in a weekend sweep of DePaul.

Alyssa Twomey (Warwick, R.I.) leads the pitching staff with an 8-1 record and a 2.97 ERA. She has recorded 47 strikeouts across 59.0 innings pitched, and her ERA ranks second in the BIG EAST. Twomey was recently named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week after going 2-0 with a 1.94 ERA and 10 strikeouts over 18.0 innings, helping Providence to a series sweep over St. John's. She tossed two complete games in the series, including a complete-game shutout to clinch the sweep.
SCOUTING BOSTON UNIVERSITY
The Friars are matching up with BU for the second time this season. The first game ended in an 8-7 loss.
The Terriers enter Wednesday's game with a 33-11 record and an 11-1 mark in Patriot League play, ranking first in the conference. They have been strong offensively, hitting .341 as a team with 329 runs scored and 43 home runs on the season.
Boston University features a balanced lineup with multiple players hitting above .340. Sophie Naivar leads the team with a .400 batting average and Kylie Doherty leads the team with 18 home runs and 61 RBI, while Brooke Deppiesse (.386) and Kyomi Apalit (.367) also anchor the offense.
In the circle, Kasey Ricard leads the pitching staff with a 24-5 record and a 2.79 ERA. She has totaled 183 strikeouts in 175.2 innings pitched. Haley Ganino has also contributed with a 6-1 record and a 3.52 ERA.
SCOUTING BROWN
Brown enters Wednesday's game with an 11-19 record with a 4-8 Ivy League mark.
Macy Borowski is the only batter batting about .300 for the Bears with a .310 average. Cameron Zytkewicz Ray chips in offensively by leading the team in hits with 24 on the season.
Borowski also leads the Bears from the circle, collecting an 8-9 record while striking out 102 batters. Her 3.63 ERA also leads the team.

The Friars will travel to Storrs, Conn. To play UConn in a three-game BIG EAST series from April 17-19. The first game is scheduled for Friday, April 17 at 7:00 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
