First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College softball team (23-15, 12-3 BIG EAST) will travel to South Kingstown, R.I., for a midweek matchup against URI (16-23, 5-13 A-10) on Wednesday, April 22 at 3:30 p.m.

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
Providence enters this midweek matchup having won 19 of its last 23 games. The Friars recently opened BIG EAST play with a program-best 7-1 start. Additionally, their eight-game winning streak, which tied a school record, came to an end in the series finale against Seton Hall earlier this season.

Cameron Dunn (Bothell, Wash.), Sofia Peterson (Bordentown, N.J.) and Elisa Smith (Glen Allen, Va.) have each recently reached the 100-career-hit milestone. Dunn also broke the program's single-season home run record with her 13th of the year on Wednesday, April 15, against Boston University.

Dunn has had an impressive season for Providence. The infielder has been featured on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll four times and leads the team with 50 RBI, 14 home runs, and a .883 slugging percentage while batting .423. Her 14 home runs and .883 slugging percentage both rank second in the BIG EAST.

Emily Jonte (Allen, Texas) has also provided a strong presence in the lineup, posting a .414 batting average. The senior has recorded 36 hits, 16 RBI, and a .586 slugging percentage. Jonte was named BIG EAST Player of the Week earlier this season following her performance in a weekend sweep of DePaul and was most recently featured on the league's honor roll.

In the circle, junior Alyssa Twomey (Warwick, R.I.) leads the pitching staff with a 9-1 record and a 3.29 ERA, which ranks second in the BIG EAST. She has recorded 51 strikeouts over 66.0 innings pitched. Last week, Twomey was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week after going 2-0 with a 1.94 ERA and 10 strikeouts across 18.0 innings to help Providence sweep St. John's. She threw two complete games in the series, including a shutout to clinch the sweep.

Freshman Addy Frye (New Castle, Pa.) has also emerged as a key arm for the Friars. She was recently named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week after going 2-0 with a 1.40 ERA and 11 strikeouts in wins over Brown and UConn. Her victory against UConn clinched the series for Providence and helped the Friars maintain first place in the BIG EAST standings. On the season, Frye holds a 4-3 record with a 4.98 ERA and 44 strikeouts across 52 innings pitched.

SCOUTING RHODE ISLAND
The Rams enter Wednesday's game with a 16-23 record and 5-13 mark in Atlantic 10 play. Most recently, they dropped a conference series to Fordham, 2-1.

Rhode Island is led offensively by Kylie Bulinski, who is hitting .370 with a team-high 22 RBI and four home runs while posting a .564 on-base percentage and .630 slugging percentage. Brooke Fairbanks has also been a key contributor, batting .386 with a .509 slugging percentage, while Sydney Orndorff adds depth with a .337 average and a team-high eight stolen bases.

In the circle, Avery Vale-Cruz leads the pitching staff with a 7-7 record and 85.0 innings pitched, recording 60 strikeouts. Brooke Gerry has also been a key arm, tossing 79.0 innings with a team-high 74 strikeouts, while Ashley Hibbard owns a 3.45 ERA with 48 strikeouts across 50.2 innings pitched.
