PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College softball team (16-13, 7-2 BIG EAST) defeated the Holy Cross Crusaders (7-21, 3-6 Patriot League), 1-0, on Tuesday, April 7, at Glay Field in Providence, R.I. Freshman
Grace Brooks (Meridian, Idaho) struck out six batters in five innings to record the win.
GAME NOTES
- Both teams couldn't get their offenses going through the first four innings.
- In the fifth inning, Providence finally opened the scoring when Cameron Dunn (Bothell, Wash.) grounded out to shortstop, driving in Gabriella Lee (Belmont, Calif.) from third for an RBI.
- In the circle, Brooks finished the day facing 16 batters, allowing three hits and recording six strikeouts. Addyson Frye (New Castle, Pa.) came in to relieve Brooks in the sixth inning, recording two strikeouts of her own to record her second save of the season.
- Hailey Frantz (Danville, Calif.) and Gabriella Lee (Belmont, Calif.) recorded the hits for the Friars on Tuesday.
ON DECK…
The Friars return to action on Wednesday, Arpil 8, when they travel to Boston University for a doubleheader. The first game is set for a 2:30 p.m. first pitch.
